Review - Rumors - The Theatre Company

I do not believe that anyone has done as good a job with Neil Simon's "Rumors" as did The Theatre Company. Director Peg Girard, who also plays Cookie, directed this comedy so well. The timing is impeccable and the energy displayed by the cast was awe-inspiring. A short synopsis of the plot is that several friends arrive at the home of their friends to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the husband has apparently attempted suicide and his wife is not in the house. The friends decide to protect their friends' reputations, but then the police arrive and the stories start flying. Review - Cats - Melbourne High School

I don’t really know what I expected when I decided to see “Cats” at Melbourne High School. I’ve seen many shows there, and I have always been entertained. But “Cats” really blew me away. Review - Spartacus - Space Coast Ballet

My husband and I saw the evening performance of the Space Coast Ballet’s presentation of “Spartacus” choreographed by Boris Chepelev and Janna Kirova. One of the reasons we went to the ballet was to see a few friends of ours who were in the Roman soldier group, as well as the Gaditanian Maidens. I have not seen many ballets, but I have certainly seen more than my husband has. I was concerned that he would not enjoy the performance, but he did! Review - Pirates of Penzance - Surfside Players

Some shows are done so often that people think they can just wait for another theatre to do it and it will be just as good. This is a very bad idea. Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera, Pirates of Penzance, is one of the most frequently produced productions in the world today, but don’t let that lead you to believe the next show will be just as good and insist on missing a current production. Max Thornton : To answer Lisa's question, The Theatre Company plans to remain performing at BCC Palm Bay for the foreseeable future. We have a good working relationship with the college and the current provost is enthusiastic and supportive. The name change is only intended to convey a wider focus to the community beyond the city of Palm Bay.
Gordon Ringer : After watching the Invited Dress for Rumors at The Theater Company last night, all I can say is "Wow". A truly fantastic show. The acting and the set were phenomenal. If you want to see a excellent ensemble cast, then you need to check this out. The stagecraft exhibited by every member of the cast was a joy to behold. John Q Public gives this show a huge Thumbs Up.
Patty ONeal : Richard, Thank You for your support last year. That was kind of you to say, I appreciate your comments. I'm working with two local bands now.. both in rehearsal stage, but I'm enjoying myself. Take care.
Richard Jones : I dont see any members of this board entered but Christy and Trevor Starr are both actors at the Titusville Playhouse and I know both fairly well.
Richard Jones : Yeah it is a shame so much can be controlled by just votes, I voted for Patty last year before I even knew she was an actress or who you were simply because I thought she did the best job of singing (Imagine using the actual performance for voting criteria).
Devon ONeal : Richard, NEGATIVE!!! That was a one time contest for her, she had fun and placed second last year. Thanks to all the theatre supporters out there but to beat a high school and a myspace campaign in voting is WAY too many hours! If any SCT members are let us know and we can support them!
Richard Jones : Devon, is Patty trying out for Brevard Idol once again ? I
Lisa Farrall : Devon, Skeeter was working. I hadn't heard about the name change. Thanks for confirming it. Do you know if they plan to move from Palm Bay?
Richard Jones : Lisa,the buffet was open to all who were there at Noon and included Wings and stuffed noodles as advertised,it lasted for over 30 minutes and there was more then enough for everyone. Some people were selected to receive additional food later during the shoot above and beyond what was stated which was a bonus for those people (They needed shots of the food being eaten and wine being drank).
Devon ONeal : I forgot about Makato's! So some did not get fed? LOL now thats funny starving actors! Did Skeeter Starve too?
Devon ONeal : Yes, The Theatre Company of Palm Bay is now known as The Theatre Company. I got word of it from them about a month ago, so I made quiet updates. I guess I could have mentioned it in an article.
Lisa Farrall : Richard, yes it was great for those of you who were given a full meal! The rest of us just sat around waiting for the others to finish their 4-course meal.

Gordon Ringer : Good catch Terry. I still think it would be cool. I think the majority of our audiences here love Niel Simon, and our respective audience bases will support these productions. Once again, this is the entertainer, rather than the artist in me. I know my family would be perfectly happy if EVERY show was a comedy or Niel Simon show. I will admit it, we are not a very deeply complex clan.
Terry Girard : Wow, looks like we're headed into one of the Neil Simon gluts that crop up every so often: Surfside's 45 SECONDS ... Henegar's upcoming CALIFORNIA SUITE, MCT's GOD'S FAVORITE, and Theater Co. of Palm Bay's RUMORS. We're all keeping him and his heirs well-fed. Hope there's enough audience for his work to support all those productions.

Gordon Ringer : Hey Bethany. If you can get a copy of the script beforehand to familiarize yourself with it, I would advise it. As it is Neil Simon, I am betting most libraries will have copies. Generally, the readings will be chosen by the director from certain pages of the script that he/she feels reveals the character. They will give you copies of the script to read from during auditions. If you cannot get a copy, you would just read cold from the script. Just show some real enthusiasm and presence while reading. Make them remember you. Break A Leg. I am probably auditioning as well so hope to see you there.
